{"id":779,"date":"2024-06-16T09:13:18","date_gmt":"2024-06-16T09:13:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.eurasia.sk\/?p=779"},"modified":"2024-06-16T09:28:32","modified_gmt":"2024-06-16T09:28:32","slug":"details-of-the-china-kyrgyzstan-uzbekistan-railway-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.eurasia.sk\/en\/details-of-the-china-kyrgyzstan-uzbekistan-railway-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Details of the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal text-color--8 mb-40\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal\">The project to build a rail link between China and Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan will reach 486 km, with the Kyrgyz part accounting for 311.8 km.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal text-color--8 mb-40\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal\">This project has long been discussed and delayed, mainly due to the lack of earmarked funds on the Kyrgyz side.<br>Construction is challenging due to the mountainous, inaccessible terrain in Kyrgyzstan, 18 stations, 81 bridges and 41 tunnels are planned.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal text-color--8 mb-40\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal\">Before planning the project, the question of the width of the line had to be addressed. Chinese railways use 1435 mm gauge, while the Kyrgyz and Uzbek lines carry the Soviet heritage of wide gauge lines (1520 mm).<br>The project is planned using both gauges. The change to broad gauge will be at Makmal station in the Jalalabad region of Kyrgyzstan. Thus, the narrower gauge 169.6 km long track will also be used on the territory of Kyrgyzstan (the broad gauge part of the line will be 142.2 km long).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal text-color--8 mb-40\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal\">The cost of construction of the part of this project on the territory of Kyrgyzstan will amount to EUR 4.7 billion USD.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal text-color--8 mb-40\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal text-color--8 mb-40\" class=\"paragraph paragraph--normal\"><a href=\"https:\/\/railway.uz\/uz\/\">Uzbekistan Railways<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/t.me\/logistan\/5874\">https:\/\/t.me\/logistan\/5874<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The project to build a rail link between China and Uzbekistan via Kyrgyzstan will reach 486 km, with the Kyrgyz part accounting for 311.8 km.
